skies. it's a cool saturday in some cases but not as much as yesterday. mostly sunny, mild to warm, on the flip side more wet weather on the way. it could come in time for halloween. >> following developing news out of san francisco right now. a woman is badly injured after a shooting and a car crash. >> reporter: it happened just before four this morning in city's western edition neighborhood. according to a detective a 30- year-old woman who was driving this car, you see flipped over -- that's now in the process of getting towed. she was shot four times and while on the way to the hospital she said she had been trying to park when she heard and felt the gun fire. police have been searching through the crime scene since early this morning marking shell casings and bullet holes. they say there were two shooters involve though they

don't have any suspect descriptions. based on where all the shell casings are it seems to indicate that the shooters walked up to the car and opened fire. one of the detectives said they don't think it was a random attack. they suspect woman had a connection to the people who shot her. as far the woman's condition he is expected to survive. she was taken to the hospital and is having surgery and is in stable condition. this intersection -- let's take you back out live to see them towing this car just when we started this live shot the car was upside down. you heard the noise, the tow truck had chains and they just flipped it right side up. they are in the process of clearing the scene. the street is going do be closed for a little while as they investigate. live in san francisco. >> one person has been rushed to the hospital after being shot in the chest outside of a

halloween party in haywood. it appeared last night. someone in a car opened fire outside the party which was being held at a warehouse. most of the guests were teens. >> based on the people that we came in contact, appears that most were juveniles or young adults, 17, 18. >> the victim's condition hasn't been released. >> overnight news firefighters put out a one alarm fire in oakland. it happened on 84th avenue and international that. fire burned a converted garage. nobody was hurt and the cause of the fire is now under investigation. police in vallejo say they have arrested a man in connection with three arsons including a fire at the law offices of the vallejo mayor. a 44-year-old maud love is a accused of setting the office on fire in september. police say he is also responsibility for the arsons at the taylor chapel and

another building. >> i met him in the process of handling his mother's estate. >> davis said love tried to sue him at one point but the lawsuit was thrown out. the san francisco chronicle reports he has a history of mental illness. >> we are learning more about two teens arrested for the killing of a woman. want to show you the mug shot of the 18-year-old suspect. the other teen is a 16-year- old. the two are accused of strangling the 58-year-old inside her home last week. police say after the killing they set house on fire. investigators say they knew the victim's boyfriend was out of town and set out to just rob the home. police say they hid in the house -- in the yard for hours waiting for her to leave and after several hours got impatient and went inside. >> when they made the decision to go in the house they had

giving you a look at sandy. it's churning off the carolina coast. it'll run parallel through the weekend. normally it would continue this track but we have a pattern blocking it from moving this direction so it's expected to swing west in the coming days. this is the second system that's going to bring it real trouble. we have a cold system, a warm system and the two colliding are going to be major impacts to areas along the east coast and seaboard. we have a forecast here that runs, it looks like between washington and new york. the weather will start to fall apart tomorrow but monday into tuesday is when it'll peak and we are talking several inches of rain. seven to ten inches in some cases. a strong storm surge could knock over trees and power lines. that could be out of power for millions we are talking for days. its going to be quite a mess and we will track it for you. >> the united states navy is

musician. prosecutors say he mistook the man for a rival gang member and shot him back on january of 2010. he was a base player for lauren hill. the suspect was also convicted of killing a elementary schoolteacher last year. >> more than 3.6 million social security numbers may have been compromised. officials say an international hacker may have also accessed 387,000 credit and debit card numbers after compromising the serv er for the south carolina department of revenue. police say someone lit four vans on fire about 50 miles east of the east bay. it happened early thursday morning at east union high school. three of them blew up. all of them were destroyed. police say it looks like someone put rags in the gas tank and lit them on fire causing $100,000 of damage.

. a car flips over after a shooting. the investigation nointedway at this hour. good morning. welcome back to the news. >> a woman was badly hurt in that strange incident. allie is live at the scene with more on what she was doing. >> reporter: looks like investigators have made a lot of progress. this is in the western edition neighborhood. up until 30 minutes ago that white car was completely upside down after a shooting happened that -- the driver crashed. the car flipped. half an hour ago that tow truck, we heard a loud crash, they pulled it up right and now firefighters have been called out to lay out sand and clean up some of the oil and fluids in this car that spilled out during the tow process. this is what the scene looked like earlier this morning.

a 30-year-old woman who had been driving car was shot around 4:00. police detective here at the scene said the woman said she was trying to park when she heard and felt bullets. she crashed her car right after she was shot. she was hit four timessa coring to the detective and she is in stable condition and having surgery. she is expected to live. investigators said through the scene marking shell casings and bullet holes there. were two shooters and based on where the casings were it seems to indicate that the shooter walked up to the car -- the shooters walked up and opened fire. the detective here said they don't think this was a random attack. police suspect the woman has some sort of connection to the people who shot her though they don't know what it is or what the motive may have been. one positive thing about the crime scene out here, investigators said there are a number of surveillance cameras attached to some of the apartments right here on the

intersection where it happened. they are hoping that video may give them a picture of the shooters. some sort of get away car or a clue to help them with this investigation. live in san francisco. >> police in oakland also responded to two shootings over night. the most recent one happened just before 12:30 on allendale. police say two groups of people got into a shoot out firing as many as 30 times at each other. two people were taken to the hospital. so far no arrests have been made and police say witnesses are not cooperating. about 45 minutes earlier another person was hit by gun fire. an armed man was seen driving away from that seen. the victim was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening wounds. the chp will join oakland police to help patrol the streets of oakland as soon as thursday. >> we will go out and it's always if you have a high

profile visibility is more of a reduction or also -- likelihood of crime not happening. >> oakland police and the highway patrol announced it kid. the chp said they will have officers work overtime to help patrol. they teamed up before from 2007 to 2010 as part of a gang reduction task force. >> there was a big scare during the homecoming dance in richmond. that school was locked down after shot was fired a block away. the shotting followed an altercation between two groups of teens. nobody was hurt. that lockdown lasted 30 minutes. a 3-year-old in san diego is recovering this morning after being struck by a stun gun. it happened yesterday when officers were chasing a shoplifting suspect in a busy mall parking lot. when officers tried to tas er the suspect one of the barbs

hit the child. >> thousands of people packed a sacramento area church to remember a mother and her two children allegedly killed by a family member. 5,000 people attend the memorial yesterday for the 23- year-old. her 3-year-old daughter and 2- year-old son. prosecutors say her brother-in- law stabbed them to death and the motive is under investigation. prosecutors have not decided whether to seek the death penalty. we are learning more this morning about a nanny accused of stabbing two children to death on new york city's upper westside. the times reports that nanny had run into financial problems in the last year. that forced her to move in with her sister in harlem. people who knew her said she got increasingly withdrawn in recent months and avoided eye contact. >> she is a citizen. she has been employed by the family for approximately two

years. she was referred to them by another family. >> the children's mother found the children thursday night in a bathtub. they moved to new york from san francisco about two years ago after kevin left his job at yahoo. >> police in campbell say they have caught a suspected serial bank robber because of a viewer. police say a tip led them to the 43-year-old. investigators say he is the same man seen in these pictures a bank surveillance camera. police say they have evidence linking him to six robberies done in santa clara in the past two months. they call him the beanie bandit. no happening now people who live on treasure island are boeing told to boil their tap water after a water main break. drinking nonboiled water could lead to illness. water service is expected to be restored soon. people who live on the other

news in san francisco's western edition neighborhood where a woman was hurt. . >> it happened on ellis. . >> reporter: and crashed into this car after she he was shot -- she was shot and her car flipped upside down. it happened around four on. the woman said she was trying to park on the street when she heard and felt bullets. she was hit four times. she is in stable condition and under going surgery this morning. meanwhile investigators spent the morning searching through the scene marking shell casings and bullet holes there.

were two shooters involved. based on where the shell casings were it seems to indicate that they walked up to the vehicle and opened fire. the detective here said they don't think this was a random attack. police suspect that the woman had a connection to the people who shot her though at this point investigators don't know what that connection is or what the motive may have been for this shooting. one thing to mention about this particular crime scene in this area is there are a number of cameras. we take you back out live you can see one in the distance. right next to a parking garage. it's next to this crime scene where this shooting happened. investigators are hoping video could provide a picture. some sort of clue to help investigators solve this shooting. live in san francisco. ktvu. >> one person has been rushed to the hospital after being shot in the chest. right outside a halloween party in haywood. happened around 11:00. police say someone in a car

opened fire outside the party which was being held at a warehouse. officers say most of the guests at the party were teens. >> base based on the people we came in contact appears the majority were juveniles, 17 or 18. >> the victim's condition hasn't been released. >> firefighters work to put out a one alarm fire overnight. it happened on 84th and international just before 11. nobody was hurt and no word on how it was started. that fire is still under investigation. >> we are learning more about the two teens arrested for the killing of a castro valley woman. this is the mug shot of the 18- year-old. the other teen is a 16-year- old. the two are accused of strangling a 58-year-old woman inside her home last week. police say after the killing the teens set the house on

obviously everybody from larry to fabian was like we are just going to take it game by we are used to that come back thing. we know you can come back. how do you think that will play into -- the mentality of this team when they take the field today? >> reporter: you know -- the old thing is momentum is just that next day's pitcher. it could be that. if in fact -- the tigers are good offensive team. they hit right handed pitchers, better than left. they are at home. they may be little more used to this kind of weather. its going it be down into the low 30s by six or 7th inning. you know there is -- the dh now. the line up of the tigers is going to look different than the one it did in game one and two. now they have more speed because of the dh being out -- taken out of the out field. young, solid hitter, they will

in time for halloween, wet weather to talk about. i'll show you the time line on the rain, show you the numbers for today, coming up. and new this morning, a woman was badly hurt after a bizarre shooting and car crash overnight in san francisco's western addition. it happened around 3:30 at pierce and ellis. police say the victim was trying to park her car, when someone started firing, hitting her twice in the chest. the gunfire caused the woman to accelerate and her car flipped over. police say they are reviewing surveillance footage in the hopes of identifying the shooter. one person has been rushed to the hospital after being shot in the chest outside a halloween party in hayward. it happened around 11:00 last night on depot road. police say someone in a car opened fire just outside the party, which was being held at a warehouse. officers say most of the guests at the party were teenagers. >> based on the people that we came in contact, appears that the majority were juveniles, or young adults, 17, 18-year-olds. >> the victim's condition has

not been released. police in vallejo say they have arrested a man in connection with three arsons, including a fire at the law offices of vallejo. maude love is accused of setting the mayor's office on fire, responsible for arsons at the taylor chapel and the former cooley mortuary. davis says he met love nine years ago when his firm considered handling the probate for love's mother. >> i met him in the process of handling his mother's estate. >> davis says love tried to sue him at one point, but the lawsuit was thrown out. the san francisco chronicle is reporting love has a history of mental illness. we are learning more this morning about the two teenagers arrested for the brutal killing of a castro valley woman. this is the mug shot of the 18-year-old suspect. the other teen arrested, 16-year-old christian birdsaul, the two accused of strangling

58-year-old barbara latchlay, who was inside her castro valley home last week. police say after the killing, the teens set the house on fire. investigators say the two knew the victim's boyfriend was out of town and originally set out to burglarize the home. police say they hid in the yard, waiting for latchlay to leave. but after several hours, they grew impatient and went inside. >> when they made the decision to go in the house, they had made the decision to go in and kill her. >> investigators say the pair stole guns and jewelry and left in the victim's car. a hearing was held for both suspects yesterday. neither of them entered a plea. both teenagers are being tried as adults. the giants taking their show on the ride and ryan vogelsong will take the mound tonight in game 3 at detroit's comerica park. the right-hander has been the giants' most effective starter in the series, winning twice against the cardinals and allowing just one run in the giants win in cincinnati.

in the atlantic, sandy was upgraded to hurricane strength again this morning and it poses a serious threat for the east coast early next week. sandy knocked down trees and power lines as it passed through florida. the storm is expected to collide with two other weather systems when it hits the east coast, creating a monstrous storm. the hurricane has already killed more than 40 people in the caribbean. people along the east coast are preparing for the worst with hurricane sandy. experts say the storm could be stronger than irene, which caused more than $15 billion in damages last year. strong winds from the hurricane could be felt as far as 100 miles away. and several governors of different states have declared a state of emergency. >> going to be high winds and rain, so you'll have debris around the house. travel plans should be adjusted accordingly. >> winds are reported to be up to 75 miles per hour. just hours ago, the hurricane

was downgraded to a tropical storm, but it's gained strength and reached hurricane status yet again. national airlines are helping travelers out in the wake of hurricane sandy, saying they will waive fees of customers who want to reschedule their flights. the major airlines say they won't charge the typical fee of $150 for passengers flying monday through wednesday this week, or next week, covering those flying in or out of just about any airport from latin america up to new hampshire. the storm is also impacting the political world. coming up at 9:15, what this means for the president and republican challenger mitt romney, as they head into the final days before the election. . good morning to you. giving you a live look here at the golden gate, a peek into the north bay. blue skies overhead. mostly clear skies around the region, and plenty of sunshine expected for today. want to head back to the east coast for a moment, because hurricane sandy already causing trouble over the carolinas.

winds at 75 miles per hour, remaining offshore, and will continue offshore through the weekend. but it is moving at this moment in northeasterly track, about 9 miles per hour. it eventually will curve to the west. that's when we could really see some trouble. but from south carolina into north carolina, the rain is falling over parts of the coast, up to 3 inches expected for today. the winds, 20 to 25 miles per hour. i backed this up a little bit to the bad news, in addition to a sizable hurricane, we have a cold core system that is going to be pushing east. the two of these, sandy and this storm, will be colliding. and as they do, it's bad news for areas between new york and washington, dc, and it's going to last several days, could be fairly widespread. let's take a look at the track of sandy. through the weekend, going to run parallel to the coast, northeasterly direction. then it moves west. we have a system out over a pattern over the atlantic that will prevent sandy from continuing a northeast track. and that's why we, again, expect it to move west.

looks like by monday night into tuesday, power outages are expected across the eastern seaboard and that could last for days. we're talking a very strong storm surge, rain anywhere from 10 to 12 inches, snow, wind gusts to 80 miles per hour. it's going to be a mess. again, we'll be tracking that for you. coming back home, ridge of high pressure building in, pushing our storm track to the north and we have a warming trend in store for your weekend. now, i mentioned a moment ago the possibility of rain coming in, perked your ears up a bit. let me show you what happens here. through the weekend, no troubles. that storm, well to the north of us. but by tuesday, notice we do begin a little bit of a pattern change. by wednesday, we're mostly cloudy. by wednesday night, scattered showers appear and the models look to bring it just in time for halloween evening, lasting through thursda we'll be watching that for you between now and then. meanwhile, back to the here and now, 055 degrees santa rosa, 56 in concord. temperatures starting to warm. some of us slipped into the upper 40s earlier this morning, but feeling pretty good at this hour, and the highs for the

university avenue is a couple blocks away from its previous location. you can expect to see new product displays, more training and workshop sections and a larger genius bar to help customers who need help. the first thousand people there today will get t-shirts. one version of the ipad mini has already sold out, with online preorders. the white model of the mini sold out just minutes after preorders began at 12:00 a.m. yesterday morning. what that means is that shipping is going to be delayed by another two weeks. the black ipad mini is still available for preorder, and it is expected to ship by november 2nd, same day the mini ipads will arrive in stores. as claudine mentioned, the national hockey league has canceled all games through november. that means no matter when the league and players union come to an agreement, a full season of games will not be played. it's another hit to san jose. the sharks have lost 21 games in the lockout, 11 are home games. many downtown businesses and the city of san jose rely on game days to generate revenue and they already missed out on 11 of

knows how to create jobs. new software will allow americans living overseas to cast an electronic ballot in the november election. a technology-based company in spain says its software will allow ballots to be sent electronically to u.s. citizens living overseas. voters fill the ballot out online, then send them to a u.s. territory by traditional mail or e-mail. >> it's very important to be able to vote from here. i've been doing it for the past 10 years or so, and it's always been difficult and now it's getting easier, and with the system that we have developed, it's quite easy. >> the company says it has also developed electronic voting technology for elections in france, india and australia and other countries. maricopa county in arizona made a costly printing mistakes, telling spanish speaking voters on about 2000 book marks and mailers that the date of the upcoming election is november 8th instead of the 6th. the elections department will

now spend $30,000 printing new flyers and buying ads on spanish language tv and radio stations alerting voters of the mistake. officials say the misprinting was not intentional. eight billboards in the atlanta area that offer voters a chance to win a gun are raising some eyebrows this morning. the billboards say anyone who shows up at smear in a's adventure outdoors with a voting sticker will be entered in a raffle for a rifle or pistol. the gun store owner, who put up the billboard, says he's just trying to get gun owners involved in the political process. but after being contacted by election officials, he modified his offer. he now says anyone who owns a gun can enter the contest, regardless of whether they vote. eleven people are arrested in indonesia, and they are suspected of planning various terrorist attacks on domestic and foreign targets, including the u.s. and australian embassies. indonesian police say the suspects were arrested yesterday and authorities seized bombs and explosive-making materials. police say the group had plans

to target the u.s. embassy in jakarta and the plaza near the australian embassy. it is unclear when the attacks were planned to take place. . happening now, in just a few minutes, the alameda county sheriff's department is expected to give the public a look at a new drone it wants to add to its force. ktvu's allie rasmus is live in dublin with more on the unveiling and the controversy behind it. allie? >> reporter: we are outside the alameda county sheriff's office in dublin, and about 15 minutes from now, they are supposed to reveal some details about the department wanting to buy what's called an unmanned aerial system, otherwise known as a drone. now, the alameda county sheriff's office is looking to use possibly grant money to buy one of these unmanned planes. they say they need it to help monitor large crowds in events, search for bombs, hazardous materials, and search for marijuana grows. but the move has raised some concerns, privacy concerns from various groups, including the electronic freedom foundation and the aclu of northern

stabbing two young children to death on new york city's upper westside. the "new york times" reports yasolyn ortega had set on hard times. she became increasingly withdrawn in recent months, according to friends, and was avoiding eye contact. >> she's a naturalized citizen. she has been employed by the family for approximately two years. she was referred to them by another family. >> the children's mother, marina krimm found the toddlers thursday night in a bathtub. the family had moved to new york from san francisco about two years ago after kevin krimm left his job at yahoo!. police in southern california released the name of a suspect in a deadly shooting free near los angeles. 30-year-old jay douglas harris was booked into jail last night. harris has a criminal record, including firearm possession, robbery and burglary.

giants orange at night, at least through the month of october. and happening now, people who live on treasure island, there's a warning this morning. boil your tap water because there was a water main break. health officials say that drinking tap water which has not been boiled could lead to intestinal illness. the boil water order is expected to be in effect until monday morning. if you live on the island, you are not affected. police in oakland responded to two shootings overnight. the most recent one happened just before 12:30 on allen dale and octavia streets. two groups of people got into a shootout, according to police, firing as many as 30 times at each other. two people were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. so far, no arrests have been made and police say witnesses are not cooperating. just about 45 minutes earlier, another person was hit by gunfire on 10th and center streets. police say an armed man was seen driving away from the scene. no arrests have been made in this case either. the victim was taken to the hospital with nonlife

threatening wounds. in overnight news, firefighters work to put out a one-alarm fire in oakland. it happened on 84th avenue at international just before 11:00 p.m. last night. the fire burnt a converted garage. no one was hurt, but we still do not know how that fire started. that fire is still under investigation. well, there was a big scare during richmond high school's homecoming dance last night. the school was locked down after shots were fired just a block away from campus. police say the shooting followed an altercation between two groups of teenagers. no one was hurt. and none of the suspects involved were students. a lockdown lasted just about 30 minutes. thousands of people packed the sacramento area church to remember a mother and her two children allegedly killed by a family member. 5000 people attended a memorial yesterday at bethany slavic church in rancho cordova for a 23-year-old alina bukansav, her 3-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. prosecutors say her brother-in-law stabbed the family to death.

the motive is under investigation. prosecutors have not decided whether to seek the death penalty. classmates and friends are mourning the death of a richmond girl who was found dead along the san mateo coast. 16-year-old kathy chewy was considered a runaway last month. her body was found sunday at the sangre gore yo beach. she was a senior at albany high school, where she is being remembered as a good student. >> she was really, really helpful. i didn't know anything and then she was tutoring me throughout the whole process. >> a facebook page has been created in her memory. the coroner says it will take two weeks to confirm the cause of death, but say at this point there are no signs of foul play. police in campbell have caught a suspected serial bank robber, thanks to a ktvu viewer. police say a tip from that viewer led them to 43-year-old tony of campbell. investigators say he is the same

man seen in these pictures from a bank surveillance camera. police say they have evidence linking him to six bank robberies that were committed in santa clara county in the past two months. they say the so-called beanie bandit did not display a. we he just gave tellers a note. the california highway patrol will be joining the oakland police force to help patrol the streets of oakland and it could all start as soon as thursday. >> what we'll do, we'll go out there and it's always if you have, like, a high profile visibility, is more of a reduction or also likelihood of crime not occurring. >> oakland police and the highway patrol announced that partnership yesterday at a press conference. the chp says it will have some officers work overtime to help patrol. the two agencies have teamed up before from 2007 to 2010, as part of a gang reduction task force. the head of california's crowded prison system has announced he is stepping down for a new position. matthew kate announced he will now become the executive director of the california state association of counties.

force. ktvu's allie rasmus joins us live from dublin this morning, where she got an up-close look at the drone. >> reporter: this is it right here behind us. it's called an unmanned aerial system, otherwise known as a drone. and this is one of the things that the alameda county sheriff's office is thinking about buying. it's going to do a little demonstration for us here. when we say drone, you think of an unmanned military-style plane. this thing is very different. it's about 2 feet wide, less than a foot tall, and it's got four propellers around it. this thing can go about a mile from the location where it's being controlled. you can see it soaring up above us. it's really space-age looking. this is where they are controlling it from. it's this monitor here. that device has a camera on top and the picture is transmitting, comes through to this monitor here and it's being controlled by these joy sticks, almost like a game console. now, this thing will cost about $40,000 for the alameda county sheriff's office. here to tell us about why it's

needed, what it could be used for, sergeant jd nelson with alameda county sheriff's office. what would it be used for? >> we would use it for many different types of missions, squat callouts, bomb callouts. any time a person would have a firearm in a yard, we would use that. search and rescue missions, where we have to search vast areas. we get a lot of problems with the windmills, hard to get a patrol car in those areas, very easy to deploy one of these out of the trunk of a car. >> good to cover a lot of ground from above? >> right. just gives you an eye in the sky. it's not meant for random patrolling of streets in alameda county. it's meant for mission-specific details. >> reporter: and that brings me to my next question. some groups, electronic freedom foundation, aclu, have expressed privacy concerns with this sort of device. what do you say to people who are concerned about privacy with this thing flying overhead? >> well, again, it would be for mission-specific events. so if a person has a firearm in

an area, i don't think people are going to be too upset if we fly this over that. we already have robots that are unmanned. we don't run those down the street surveilling people. again, this is for specific event. and we believe it just makes everybody in law enforcement safer. >> reporter: how is it different from a helicopter? would this replace the helicopter you have? >> well, certainly far cheaper than a helicopter, and quite honestly, these are already being used in the bay area by some news organizations, just for that reason. they are cheaper and they can be immediately deployed. helicopter's $500 an hour. this is far cheaper. >> reporter: thank you very much, jd nelson with the alameda county sheriff's office. not our news organization, as far as i know! but this model does cost about $40,000 for public safety offices to purchase it and use it, and the alameda county sheriff's office is trying to find some grant money to make that purchase. if they do get the grant money and funding, they could get one of these as early as next year.

live in dublin, allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2news. well, a teenage girl suffered critical injuries in a double shooting in san francisco's bayview district. police say the girl and a man were shot around 9:00 last night on thomas avenue near jennings. police say the man's injuries are not life threatening and no one has been arrested. the mayor of oakland is weighing in on a ktvu investigation into questionable spending by port of oakland officials. oakland mayor jean quan says she believes the port commission official she's nominated will change the culture at the port. her comments come after a ktvu investigation showed the port of oakland's international marketing manager spent $550 on a business meeting at a karaoke bar known for offering customers a love connection. >> i texted howard jordan when i saw the report last night, and we'll look into it. >> ktvu investigation also found port of oakland officials spent $4500 at a houston strip club

and other questionable expenses. for the first time ever, an audit addressing bullying in schools is now under way, but the results won't be back for months. lawmaker ricardo laura pushed for the audit in the wake of high profile bullying cases. it's the first of it's kind audit. >> to see if the teachers even know what the rules are, know what the laws are, and actually talk to students and parents to see if they understand what their rights are. >> in the meantime, the mother of the girl being beaten in this video earlier this year in vallejo says her daughter is still recovering. she is now trying to gather 500,000 signatures on a petition that she's posted on change.org. shechts to take that to congress. she's also fighting to get restitution. she'll be in court on monday. san francisco city college -- the move will save the school $2 million as it copes with a $15 million shortfall and tries to save its accreditation, but it is facing strong opposition

. a dallas promotions company that claims to have paid lance armstrong big bonuses wants the money back. a spokesman for sca promotions says they will send armstrong a letter on monday, demanding that he pay back more than $7 million in bonuses for winning the tour de france. the company officials say now those titles have been taken away, they think the money should be returned as well. a bay area youth baseball league has been operating with a revoked nonprofit status for more than two years. the contra costa times reports antioch's babe ruth league's nonprofit status was revoked in 2010 because it failed to return tax forms for three consecutive

years. the league says it won't know what penalties will be levied until all paperwork is filed with the irs. league officials say they learned the news from someone in the city and announced it at an emergency board meeting on the 7th. you may have noticed special cameras being used during the world series broadcast. those cameras allow for images like this one to be played back in slow motion. for the world series, there are five of the cameras at at&t park ant and comerica park in detroit. >> the slow motion makes things slow and dramatic. everything seems like a movie when it's in slow motion. and that seems to really draw your attention to the emotion of the moment. >> well, a normal camera, just so you know, shoots 60 frames per second. these special cameras shoot as many as 18,500 frames per second. that's all in high-definition. time now, 8:56. we've got san jose state at home, stanford at home. how are we looking out there,
